Play Make Write Think

What’s in my Bag?

Welcome to the backpack content of a normal college freshman. A laptop with its charger is a must, along with a notebook and a pen- a “basic starter pack” for any college freshman. The most fun thing in my bag would be the hard drive. This has my most valued collection of movies, tv-shows, and anime, not available on NETFLIX. I downloaded around 500 episodes of Naruto Shippuden, which I finished in two weeks during lockdown. It also has a USB to Type-C connector because that’s the only thing that works for apple, and my headphones which I just use when listening to music.

The crafting took little to no time. So, I learnt this term mis-en-scene in my film class and it basically means how you represent a shot. Filmmakers look at mis-en-scene carefully, as to “amplify” the characters present in the scene. I chose to keep the white charger on my notebook so you know its there, without looking at the picture very carefully. Since I’m at home doing classes online, I don’t keep a backpack, because I don’t need it now. But, this picture is just a representation of what would have been in it, if I were on campus. The only thing challenging about this assignment was figuring out what would I should have been in it. And I think just showing a catalog of the content of the backpack is a form of writing because there is a very famous quote- a picture is worth a thousand words.

Player Narrative Process

While writing the player narrative what I felt, I was happy and nostalgic when thinking about this. But I think sometimes I questioned myself as to what I’m writing, is it right or wrong. Maybe cricket is a game only, I thought sometimes that should I write about a game which more people could relate to such as monopoly or a more common game. In the end I decided I should write about cricket, so that everyone can know that it’s not just a game. Moreover, writing for it was nostalgic as I played for my school team for 5 years, and it has been a very big part of my life.

GONE HOME

After I heard the voice message, my initial thought was that they were not very rich as she had to take a very late flight, which was the cheapest. But as soon as I entered the door, I saw this huge mansion and I was confused as to what was going on. Why would someone who can afford to live in this mansion have to think about taking a cheap flight. The lighting from the starting was very dark. Initially because of the setting like darkness, thundering and suspense music, made me think it was a mystery game. The note Sam left reassured that, as I would have to find clues as to where she could have gone. I think another thing that was strange that I thought that there was going to be at least her mom or dad as she had come from this long trip. This also establishes Kaitlin’s character, she is a kind person as she didn’t want her mother to worry about picking her up, and her mother and father thought that she was responsible enough to take care of herself, so they might have gone to look for Sam without leaving a note.

I think scene was the most interesting for me was this place. It added to the suspense of the game as we find out that Oscar the person to whom this place belonged to her fathers uncle. I think this place establishes that there was a person who used to live her and went mad. This added to “horror” of the game. Involved in conspiracy theories and all, drove him to kill himself. Moreover, this establishes that Sam was bullied as she was often referred to the person who lived in the “psycho house”.

“HARE-BRUSH”

After having difficulty trying to decide what to do for the combophoto, hours before the deadline, I saw my mother’s hairbrush, and then I thought that it would be funny to incorporate that in my blog post.

The only trouble I had was to whiten the hare’s background. What this image was trying to portray is to hurry and improvise when late.

Literacy Narrative Process

Writing the literacy narrative was really fun as I hadn’t had that much practice on writing papers or essays in the past few months as my school was over and I did not want to study at all. I even know that slowly once this semester progresses I have to write a lot of papers and not just for my English Class. So, not only did it help me with my studies, but also helped me relive one of my favorite moments in the fast few years as I would not be where I am right now, if it hadn’t been for books. AVATAR

I think a chameleon best represents me and my abilities. A chameleon easily adapts to the color of the surroundings. A chameleon, whenever in danger, changes its color to adapt to its surroundings, thus, changing the outcome of what could have happened. The same way I like to think preemptively and solve problems. I think that I never waver from a difficult situation, instead I like to draw inspiration from people and things that are happening around me, in a similar way that a chameleon takes inspiration from its surroundings and changes its color, and creatively try to solve the problem, which I might not have if I did not imitate a chameleon.

I can be any color, but I now I am “Blue and Yellow”, and I couldn’t be prouder. Since, my admission to Emory, I think I have become more decisive.
